"The utterly fantastic Villa Angela!!"

Researched hotels in Sicily as potential destinations for our honeymoon in May/June 2009 and opted for the Hotel Villa Angela. From the moment of picking up the phone and phoning the hotel one frosty Saturday morning from Edinburgh in January to make enquiries in to availability to the point of leaving after our wonderful honeymoon stay, the staff were nothing but friendly, professional, efficient, honest, helpful and full of great advice. The hotel itself is relatively small (27 rooms) but this absolutely works in its favour. The hotel never feels overcrowded and there is always an edge of terrace table available for enjoying your tasty breakfast or lunch. The hotel is beautiful, the views of Mount Etna and the coast are even better. Lovely touches around the communal areas and the use of flowers everywhere add real colour to the building. Useful shuttle service down to the old town of Taormina regularly in the afternoon and evening. The young sicilian guys who run this are extremely pleasant and nothing is a problem to them. The food is delicious at breakfast time with a varied choice of options. The lunchtime menu is sublime. Have to say i had a pasta passion before going to Villa Angela and since our stay my passion for pasta has increased threefold! Even trying to copy some of the chefs pasta dishes since arrived home and just about got one nailed down! Never the same as when there though, so fresh and tasty with a glass of red at lunchtime looking out over mount etna-heaven! Lots of nice fish dishes aswell-the wife loved those. We stayed in the "Etna Suite" which was top class. Spacious, lovely furniture, Jacuzzi bath and 2 balconies with sun loungers. Room service staff very efficient. Reception staff are a delight and full of great advice on restaurants that are good value and on local trips/places to visit. Very friendly atmosphere around the place. Get yourself booked up!!!
