"Terrific hotel, terrific holiday, terrific Taormina!"
What a wonderful hotel - in the most beautiful location! Everything we had hoped for when planning a chilled out & relaxing holiday. All the staff at Villa Angela were fabulous, as was our room - comfortable, spotlessly clean & with the most fantastic views of Taormina & the awesome Mount Etna. Breakfast each morning was plentiful with a variety to suit all. We didn't take advantage of the hotel's shuttle service but chose to walk everywhere & by mid week our legs were just about becoming accustomed to all the steps that Taormina has to offer! But this is definitely the best way to enjoy all of gorgeous Taormina - alternate your stroll down to Corso Umberto between the scenic pathway from Castello Saraceno and the steps through town which connect each wave of Via Leonardo da Vinci (definitely the easier route back to Villa Angela!) Be sure to visit Castelmola - take the scenic pathway up through the cliffs and make a beeline for 'Gallo Cedrone' & meet Roberto, Riccardo & mamma Maria - what characters & what fab food. (Also considerably cheaper than eating in Taormina.) When eating in Taormina try Gambero Rosso (Via Naumachie) & meet Fina & Adriana - full of fun & character - this was our favourite little ristorante in Taormina. Sit a while in Piazza IX Aprile with a caffelatte, listen to the musicians and simply 'watch the world go by' - heaven. And, at the end of each day, return to the simply wonderful Hotel Villa Angela & enjoy a cold Messina beer on the terrace watching the sunset. Absolutely perfect.
