"Don't you forget about me"
We won't forget about this hotel - for all the right reasons. This was our 3rd trip to Taormina but our 1st stay at Villa Angela and it will not be our last.
The first thing you experience are the views, which are superb with all the rooms and public spaces looking out to Etna and the Bay of Giardini Naxos, and the hotel itself is modestly comfortable and un-assuming.
The staff were friendly and helpful and Katherine and her team will do all they can to make your stay an experience not just a holiday.
The reason for my 'Average' scoring for location is that the hotel is located out of town on the road to Castelmola and just a few minutes walk from the Madonna della Rocca church. We had rough idea as to the location before booking so for us it was not an issue and although the hotel provide a shuttle bus service which is excellent value for money, it may not be the ideal location for those wishing to be closer to the town or the beach. You can walk into town following 2 paths, both of which are steep and stepped, taking about 15-20mins.
Currently dinner is only offered in the hotel on a Monday evening, we decided to take advantage and were not disappointed. The food was typically Sicilian/Italian and very good, the wine was too. There are salads and snacks available 24hrs and lunch is available daily between 12 & 2.30pm.
I would descibe the room as being simply elegant, with lovely wood furniture and the balcony was furnished with sunloungers as well as table & chairs. The rooms were lovely and clean and were cleaned daily.
The rooms also have a mini-bar/ fridge and safe. Beach towels are available, and wish I'd checked before we arrived - more room to bring home goodies!!
I hope some of our comments are helpful to others, but to sum up our holiday; we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Taormina and Villa Angela, had a lovely holiday with plenty of good food and wine and look forward to returning again in the not to distant future.
